AAP Claims Congress, BJP Collaborate in Protest Strategy

Date:

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has leveled accusations against the Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming both are working in tandem. This charge follows a protest led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi near the Prime Minister’s residence over the ongoing National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) controversy. AAP MP Sanjay Singh suggested that the government permitted the protest to distract from the student-led movement demanding answers for the NEET paper leak. He argued that this action undermined the broader public campaign.

Atishi, Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, further criticized the government’s handling of protests. She noted the disparity in treatment, highlighting that student protestors and activists faced restrictions and police actions during demonstrations near Parliament. In contrast, Rahul Gandhi was allowed to protest close to the Prime Minister’s residence and garnered a swift response from the government.

The incident drew more attention when Union Minister Jitendra Singh met with Rahul Gandhi at the protest site, indicating the government’s readiness to address NEET-related issues in Parliament. Despite this, the protest concluded with the police detaining Rahul Gandhi along with several other Congress Members of Parliament.

This situation has exacerbated tensions among opposition parties. The AAP has criticized what it sees as unequal treatment of protests and accused the Congress of inadvertently aiding the BJP rather than bolstering the larger student movement. The dispute underscores the challenges faced by opposition parties in coordinating their efforts against the ruling party while addressing the concerns of their constituents.
