China Urges Enhanced India Cooperation to Boost Bilateral Ties

In a recent meeting between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and India’s External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, both sides emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation to maintain the positive trajectory of their bilateral relationship. Wang Yi highlighted the need for China and India to boost high-level exchanges and expand collaboration in areas such as trade, media, culture, and people-to-people connections. He stressed the importance of addressing sensitive issues through dialogue and called for closer coordination in regional and international affairs, urging joint efforts to promote multipolarity and advocate for the interests of developing nations.

The Chinese foreign minister also reiterated China’s support for India in hosting the current year’s BRICS summit and emphasized the necessity of increased cooperation within the expanded BRICS framework. This collaboration is seen as a step towards enhancing the influence of developing countries on the global stage and fostering a cooperative approach to international challenges.

Indian Minister Jaishankar reaffirmed India’s dedication to cultivating a positive and cooperative relationship with China. During the meeting, he restated India’s established positions on matters concerning Taiwan and Xizang (Tibet), asserting that India acknowledges China’s sovereignty over these regions. This gesture underscores India’s commitment to respecting China’s core interests while seeking to stabilize and strengthen bilateral ties.

The discussions between the two ministers reflect ongoing efforts to stabilize relations and deepen cooperation following recent improvements in their bilateral interactions. Both countries appear committed to building on this momentum, recognizing the significant role their partnership plays in regional stability and global affairs.
