Tensions flared in the Lok Sabha as Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi accused Union Home Minister Amit Shah of authorizing the use of force against students protesting the NEET paper leak. Gandhi alleged that orders to use pellets on the protesters came from the highest levels of government, sparking a vehement response from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju countered Gandhi’s claims, demanding proof to substantiate the serious allegations. Rijiju labeled the remarks as unfounded and called for their removal from the official parliamentary record. He also insisted that Gandhi should apologize, emphasizing that such grave accusations should not be made lightly or without evidence.
The exchange became more heated when Gandhi criticized the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and used language deemed “unparliamentary” by Speaker Om Birla. Consequently, those particular comments were expunged from the parliamentary proceedings, highlighting the escalating political tensions surrounding the NEET paper leak issue.
The controversy over the NEET paper leak has already been a contentious topic, and the recent parliamentary clash further underscores the deep political divide. The BJP has been defensive over the issue, while the opposition continues to press for accountability and transparency.
