Government Confirms PM Modi Resignation Letter Circulating Online is Fake

Date:

A viral social media post claiming that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has resigned has been debunked by India’s Fact Check unit. The post included a fabricated letter that appeared to bear the national emblem and a signature, which was quickly identified as fake. The Press Information Bureau (PIB) has confirmed that no such resignation letter has been issued or signed by Prime Minister Modi.

The PIB has urged the public to rely on official sources for confirmation before sharing information online, emphasizing that the resignation claim is completely false. This clarification comes in response to the spread of misinformation, which has become increasingly prevalent on social media platforms.

Recent instances have shown a rise in such misleading content, with AI-generated videos also making rounds that falsely depict the prime minister commenting on student protests. These videos have contributed to the growing concerns about the manipulation of digital content and the spread of false information.

Authorities are advising the public to stay vigilant and critically assess the information they encounter on social media. The spread of fake news and manipulated content poses significant challenges, and the government is urging people to verify the credibility of sources before accepting or disseminating such information.

As misinformation continues to circulate, the emphasis remains on promoting digital literacy and ensuring that the public is equipped to distinguish between genuine and false claims. The PIB’s prompt action to dispel the rumors about Prime Minister Modi’s resignation highlights the importance of fact-checking in maintaining trust and accuracy in the information landscape.
