In a significant push to combat drug abuse across the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has unveiled the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’. This initiative calls on the youth to spearhead efforts in creating a drug-free India. The campaign is set to run for 100 weeks, emphasizing public participation through a variety of activities such as sports events, walkathons, meditation sessions, cultural programs, and community outreach every Sunday.
Prime Minister Modi addressed the participants of the campaign virtually, highlighting the pressing issue of drug trafficking and its detrimental effects. He pointed out that hostile forces are using drug trafficking as a tool to undermine India’s interests and weaken its young population. Modi stressed the critical importance of safeguarding the youth from addiction, which he sees as essential for the development of a Viksit Bharat, or a developed India.
The campaign has already seen significant engagement, with more than one crore youths from various backgrounds coming together to participate. Modi commended this massive turnout and the commitment shown by the young participants. He emphasized the role of the youth as the backbone of the nation and their potential to lead this transformative effort against drug abuse.
Furthermore, the campaign has inspired lakhs of young individuals to make personal pledges to abstain from drugs. These pledges extend beyond personal commitment, as these youths are also dedicated to spreading awareness within their communities, amplifying the message of a drug-free lifestyle. The campaign aims to create a ripple effect, encouraging more people to join the cause and contribute to a healthier, more prosperous India.
