Intense rainfall over the past 24 hours has led to flood-like conditions in Chhattisgarh, particularly affecting the Raipur and Durg districts. The swelling Kharun River has resulted in significant waterlogging, disrupting daily life and transportation in these regions.
In Raipur and Durg, several roads and riverside villages are submerged, with water entering homes in low-lying areas. The road connecting Raipur, Patan, and Durg through Mahadev Ghat has been particularly affected, causing major traffic disruptions. The usual route between Raipur and Bhilai via Mahadev Ghat has also been plagued by severe waterlogging.
Among the most affected areas in Durg district are the villages of Amleshwar and Khudmuda, where strong water flow has submerged roads and made movement difficult for residents. The situation is compounded by further rainfall and thunderstorms forecasted for the region, raising concerns about ongoing water accumulation in low-lying and riverside areas.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation as they work to manage the impact of the heavy rains and provide assistance to affected communities. Residents in vulnerable areas are advised to take precautions and stay informed about weather updates.
