Champat Rai Resigns; Ram Temple Trust Investigates Donation Theft Allegations

Date:

The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust has accepted the resignations of General Secretary Champat Rai and trustee Anil Mishra amidst an investigation into alleged misappropriation of funds meant for the Ram Mandir construction. Trust Treasurer Govind Giri confirmed the resignations, which align with the trust’s constitutional protocols. He also acknowledged Rai’s significant contributions to the organization since its establishment.

These resignations come in the wake of accusations regarding financial irregularities in handling temple donations. Pankaj Jaiswal, a senior member of the trust, expressed deep disappointment over the situation, emphasizing that any misuse of funds donated by devotees is intolerable and brings dishonor.

In response to the resignations, Krisha Mohan has been appointed as the interim General Secretary, while Govind Giri retains his position as treasurer. The trust is expected to convene again on July 22, coinciding with the anticipated submission of a final report by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) tasked with probing the allegations.

Govind Giri reiterated the trust’s commitment to accountability, stating that anyone found guilty would face legal repercussions, irrespective of their role within the organization. He assured that the trust would not shield any individuals implicated in the wrongdoing.

Currently, eight people have been arrested in connection with the alleged theft of donations, and the investigation continues to unfold. The trust remains under scrutiny as it navigates these serious allegations, with the outcome of the SIT’s report eagerly awaited by all involved.
