Reports suggesting that India turned down a fast-track trade agreement with the United States have been labeled as “false” and “misleading” by Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor. Both officials have openly dismissed such claims, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to solidify trade relations between the two nations.
Minister Goyal highlighted that the recent discussions with US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer were positive and reinforced both countries’ dedication to pursuing a trade agreement that is balanced and advantageous for both sides. Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agarwal added that the negotiations are advancing smoothly, with a solid framework for the agreement already in place.
