The Delhi government is set to launch the Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan, a comprehensive welfare and infrastructure initiative, starting September 17. This month-long campaign, announced by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, will commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years of public service. The initiative will see the launch and foundation-laying of various projects amounting to approximately ₹13,800 crore throughout the city.
A central feature of the campaign is a mega blood donation drive scheduled for September 17, aiming to collect 2,500 units of blood. Alongside, the government plans to promote organ donation and organize health camps specifically for senior citizens. Additionally, the campaign will encompass sanitation efforts, Yamuna-cleaning drives, and registration camps for government welfare schemes across all 70 assembly constituencies.
Approximately ₹8,000 crore is earmarked for projects related to the Yamuna river as part of the campaign. Moreover, the government plans to honor more than 4,000 Anganwadi and ASHA workers for their contributions. The initiative also includes engaging youth and students through activities across nearly 5,000 schools, such as painting and speech competitions, and an innovation challenge aimed at fostering ideas for a developed India.
The Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan will see significant investments in various sectors with projects valued at ₹8,000 crore for Delhi Jal Board works, ₹2,800 crore for Public Works Department (PWD) projects, ₹1,500 crore for power sector initiatives, ₹365 crore for irrigation and flood-control projects, and ₹77 crore for tourism projects. This holistic approach underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing welfare and infrastructure across the national capital.
