Brad Pitt is set to reprise his role as Cliff Booth, the enigmatic Hollywood stuntman from Quentin Tarantino’s acclaimed 2019 film “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” in a new spin-off film directed by David Fincher. Netflix has revealed the project’s title as “The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth.” This film will delve into Booth’s life as he navigates the evolving landscape of the film industry, with the narrative picking up in 1977, eight years after the original movie’s setting.
The film is scheduled for a limited two-week global IMAX release starting November 25, before it becomes available for streaming on Netflix on December 23. Quentin Tarantino has penned the screenplay for this new installment; however, he will not be directing, having previously expressed his desire to avoid making a sequel his final directorial endeavor, despite his enthusiasm for continuing Booth’s story.
Joining Pitt in this star-studded cast are Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Peter Weller, among others. The original film, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” featured Pitt alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie, capturing the essence of Los Angeles in the late 1960s.
David Fincher, known for his work on critically acclaimed films such as “Fight Club,” “Zodiac,” “The Social Network,” and “Gone Girl,” will direct the spin-off. His experience extends to successful Netflix series like “House of Cards” and “Mindhunter,” promising a fresh creative direction for the project. Meanwhile, Quentin Tarantino has made his mark with films like “Pulp Fiction,” “Reservoir Dogs,” “Kill Bill,” “Django Unchained,” and “The Hateful Eight.”
The return of Cliff Booth marks a significant reunion between Brad Pitt and the character crafted by Tarantino, with Fincher’s involvement adding a new dimension to Booth’s journey in the ever-changing world of Hollywood.
